Sutcliffe, 85, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in the Cedar Haven Nursing Home, Lebanon. She was the wife of Marine Lt. Col. William J. Sutcliffe, who died in 1986. Born in Lancaster, on August 20, 1924, she was the daughter of the late George and Maude Wolf Hambright. Kathryn was an avid Phillies fan. Surviving are three sons, William J. Sutcliffe, Jr. of Lebanon, Albert J. Sutcliffe of Mt. Gretna, and Benjamin W. Sutcliffe; daughter, Kathryn M. Wentz of York; a brother, John Hambright of Mt. Gretna;10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Kate was a long time resident of Mt Gretna and was active in many civic organizations in the Gretna area. She had served as Assistant Police Chief of Mt Gretna Borough for 17 years and had the distinction of being the first woman breathalyzer operator in the state of Pennsylvania. Graveside services were held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, E. Hanover Twp. Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
