Teahl, Sr., 76, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born February 16, 1934, in Palmyra, he was a son of the late Ralph and Lucetta (Gampher) Teahl and was also preceded in death by siblings, Alton, Edgar and Lester Teahl and Hilda Frazier. Retiring from Coca Cola, Shiremanstown and ASK Foods, Palmyra, he has since worked for Hershey Entertainment and Resort Company and was a Palmyra School Crossing Guard. He was a 1953 graduate of Palmyra High School, a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Palmyra, a life member of Citizen's Fire Company #1, Palmyra and a former member of the Palmyra Jaycees. An avid bowler, he bowled a 298, played minor league baseball for three years for the Cleveland Indians and coached many Palmyra youth in football and baseball. He was inducted into the Palmyra Sports Hall of Fame in 1997, the Lebanon County Sports Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Lebanon County Bowling Hall of Fame in 2008. Surviving are his wife of almost 55 years Jo Ann (Russ) Teahl; children, Cheryl A., wife of Michael McCall of Cumberland, Maine, Karen D., wife of Richard Zern of Palmyra and James H. Teahl, Jr. of Palmyra; siblings, Russell, husband of Peggy Teahl of Palmyra, Myrtle Roach of Palmyra, Anna Mae, wife of David Smith of Palmyra and Diane Shearer of Palmyra; grandchildren Ashley Theal, Allison McCall and Austin Teahl; great-granddaughter Addison Theal; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 40 W. Pine St., Palmyra. Viewings will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, both at the church. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 40 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078; or to Citizens Fire Company #1, 21 N. College St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
