Folger Trusky PALMYRA Barbara Ann Folger Trusky's actions during her six year battle with cancer were a testament of courage and commitment to everyone who was part of her life. Barb, age 48, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010, in the home of her sister. Never allowing her medical challenges to keep her away from her children's events, she was a dedicated mother to daughter, Taylor, and son, Nate, both at home, and she rarely missed an opportunity to support her children. Her ability to support those she loved and her contagious zest for life will be cherished by all those who loved her. Barb was born July 7, 1961, in Pittsburgh, and has been a resident of Palmyra since her childhood. Barb was the daughter of William H. Folger, Jr. of Palmyra, both father and friend, and the late Toni Folger. She was a 1979 graduate of Palmyra High School and was an active member of both the swim team and the color guard. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1983 from Slippery Rock University where she was also an active member of the color guard. Throughout her career, she continued her education at both Millersville University and Penn State University and was a member of the Cornwall Lebanon Teacher's Union. Barb's passion for books and the drive to ensure that all students were able to become strong readers was present with her commitment to children through her dedication as a reading specialist at Cornwall Elementary School for 24 years. Barb's lifetime love of reading led to her passion for her career as a reading teacher who assisted hundreds of children, all of whom touched her heart. In addition to teaching and reading, Barb enjoyed traveling, visiting the beach, and spending time with her children, family, and friends. Along with her children, Taylor (15) and Nate (12), Barb is survived by her sister, Stephanie Folger Hanford, wife of Stuart B. Hanford, Jr., who lovingly cared for her in their Lebanon home; and her brother, William H. Folger, III of Calabasas, Calif. In addition to her children, father, and siblings, she is survived by nephew, Stuart B. Hanford, III, and nieces, Skylar Hanford and Summer Folger. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday January 12, 2010, at 4:30 p.m. from the Lebanon Country Club 3375 W. Oak St. Lebanon, PA 17042. A public visitation will take place prior to the service from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone wishing to make a donation in Barb's memory do so to the following fund: Barbara Folger Trusky Reading Fund, c/o Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E.
