Uffner, 63, of 209 Adam Drive, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Beverly (Fortna) Uffner. Joseph was born in Lebanon, on June 12, 1947, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Lance) Uffner. He was a 1965 graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School. He was a retired Bayer Employee. Joseph served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of St. Mary's church, where he served as an usher, and was a volunteer for the church festivals and bazaars. Joseph was a very kind, happy-go-lucky, free spirited person. He enjoyed puzzles, loved to read, play cards, and was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four brothers, James Uffner of North Carolina, and Daniel, Eugene, and Francis Uffner, all of Lebanon; four sisters, Bernadette Saylor of Lebanon, Margaret Roof of Lebanon, Gertrude Nye of Lebanon, and Joan Hicks of Lebanon; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Carl Uffner. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, 2 N. 8th St., Lebanon, 17046. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Church. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with arrangements.
