Zengerle LEBANON James Sieber "Zip" Zengerle, 65, died at his home on Friday, December 17, 2010. He was born in Lebanon, on July 7, 1945, to Betty Jo Zengerle nee Sieber and the late James Edward Zengerle. Jim was a well-known member of the community, due in no small part to his 37 year veteran status as photographer for the Lebanon Daily News. He was a mentor to countless younger staffers there. Over the years he has garnered recognition several times with award- winning photos. He was also an avid ham radio operator and may be equally as recognizable to some by his call sign - W3ZRS - as by his face. As a young man, Jim worked at his parent's drug store in Cleona. He graduated from Perkiomen Preparatory School and later earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Elizabethtown College. He served in the Army in the Vietnam War as a Teletype operator. He was a member of the Lebanon Valley Society of Radio Amateurs, the ARRL National Association for Amateur Radio, the Annville American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. He is survived by his mother, Betty Jo Zengerle of Gibsonia; sister, Kay Flory of Gibsonia; daughter, Holly C. Zengerle of Lebanon; son, James A. Zengerle of Lebanon; and friend and former wife, Marylouise Gingrich of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Zengerle. A viewing will be held for the public at 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Church in Schaefferstown 17088. Friends and family are invited to attend funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. For directions to the church, call 717-949-3375. Funeral arrangements are under care of Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
