M. shabodeho@aol.com March 4, 2011, 7:54 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on March 3, 2011 Dorothea A. Balmer Dorothea A. Balmer, formerly of Palmyra, died Wednesday morning, March 2, 2011. She was the wife of the late Cyrus G. Balmer, of Palmyra, who died in 1998. Born in Hummelstown on January 21, 1918, she was the daughter of Claude and Violet Alwine. Dorothea was a homemaker most of her life, but also worked for a time at JCPenney, The Prothonotary Office in Lebanon County, and then as a secretary for the Pennsylvania State Police. She was active in the Palmyra Women's Club for many years. Surviving her are two sons, Gary Balmer, of Malvern, and Robert Balmer of Cornwall. She had two grandchildren: Craig, son of Gary and Celia Balmer, and Meghan, daughter of Robert and Jan Balmer. She also has two great-granddaughters born to her grandson Craig and Lori, Carlee and Lindsey Balmer. She was sister-in-law to the late Helen Ulrich, the late Harold Balmer, the late Dot Reigle, and the late David Balmer. A funeral service will be held at the Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078, on Saturday, March 5, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Gary Jacabella officiating. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. the day of the funeral. Interment will be at Gravel Hill, Palmyra, following the service.
