(Hursch) Bartell, 92, passed away peacefully, with family by her side on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at The Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She is survived by her loving husband, Walter D. Bartell, with whom she would have celebrated 71 years of marriage on Wednesday, October 19, 2011. She was born on Tuesday, October 22, 1918, in Harrisburg, to the late Nicholas and Eva (Greenwalt) Hursch. Rose was a strong and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who was devoted to her family. She was an active member of the Lower Paxton Lioness Club, member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, Harrisburg, where she participated in the Alter Guild. Rose worked as a civilian employee at the Middletown Air Depot, Supply Division, from 1944- 1945. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Nicholas A. Bartell and wife, Shirley of Lebanon, and Stephen A. Bartell of Jonestown; a sister, Anna Weirich of Carlisle; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons, Dean L. and James E. Bartell; and siblings, Henry and Solomon Hursch, Elizabeth Arndt, Isabelle Yanko, Ruth Knerr, and Martha Weller. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Pastor Joel Petruschke officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. A second Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 420 N. Progress St., Harrisburg, PA 17109 with Pastor Joel Petruschke officiating. Burial will follow, after a time of fellowship, in Blue Ridge Memorial Garden, Harrisburg.
