"The OLD GUY" Baylor, 77, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center, after his battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was the husband of Eleanor Edris Baylor, and on September 4, 2011, they would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Born in Lebanon, on December 4, 1933, he was the son of the late Paul D. Baylor, Sr. and Verna Haldeman Baylor. Following his service in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, he worked for 28 years at the former Lebanon Steel Foundry and then four years for the Lebanon Plaza in maintenance. He retired from the Cedar Crest School District where for 10 years he had been the director of the Ebenezer School Maintenance. He was a member of the Hill U.C.C., and served on the Consistory, the Property Comm., and Oktoberfest Comm., and he sang in the choir, the men's chorus, and with the men's quartet. He played softball on Tabor's team and participatied in Lebanon Co. and the State Senior games. He coached Jonestown Little League and played on the Lebanon Steel Foundry softball team. For 15 years he was an NL Band parent and was a member of the Izaak Walton League, TPA, AARP, PSAR the senior citizens, and the Navy Club. He had been scouting with Troop 9 Tabor since 1969 as Asst. Scoutmaster, Scout Master, Comm. Member & Merit Badge Counselor. He served on many district and council events and he organized the camp master program for both camps and the Council Property Committee. He worked seven years on staff at Camp Bashore. He volunteered for two National Jamborees and attended two Jamborees as a Leader. He did the Philmont Hike in 2001and was also the recipient of many awards: the Training Award, Scouters Key, Wood Badge, District Award of Merit, Silver Beaver, Order of Arrow & Vigil Member, James E. West Award, Arrowman of the Year, 2010 Scouting 100th Anniversary Hall of Leadership, and the God & Church Award. He also served on the Friends of Camp Bashore Board of Directors since established. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, going to the shore, travelling, the Phillies, Penn State Football, music, and watching John Wayne movies. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Terry L. Baylor, and Gary T., husband of Lynn Baylor, both of Lebanon; brothers, Glenn (Phyllis) Baylor of Manheim and David (Marilyn) Baylor of Lebanon; sisters, Rose Beck of Lebanon and Elizabeth Espenshade of Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey A. Baylor; brother, Paul Baylor; and sisters, Patricia Showers and Genevieve Bentz. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville. Viewing will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
