M. shabodeho@aol.com July 15, 2011, 10:43 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on July 13, 2011 Scott J. Beard MYERSTOWN Scott J. Beard, 49, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 11, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of Suzanne L. (Rechenberg) Beard to whom he would have been married 18 years on July 17. Born in Ephrata, on November 23, 1961, he was the son of James K. and Linda I. (Yocum) Beard of Reinholds. A 1979 graduate of Cocalico High School, he earned an Associates in Engineering in Electrical Engineering Technology in 1984 at Penn State Berks, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology in 1993 at Penn State University, and later earned licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE). Employed since May 22, 2000 by the PPL Electric Utilities Corp., Harrisburg and Lancaster, he served as a Transmission & Substations Standards & Maintenance Supervising Engineer. He was previously employed by the GPU Service Corp., Reading, from May 30, 1984 until May 20, 2000 as an engineer, service delivery leader, and staff analyst. He was a member of Mt. Aetna Bible Church where he was an AWANA leader for the third grade boys. A member of the Reinholds Fire Co., he was also a member and past president of the East Allen Fire Dept., East Allen Twp., and enjoyed watching Penn State Football. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also survived by daughters, Bethany and Mallory Beard, both at home; sons, Jeremy Conrad and Macauley and Timothy Beard, all at home; sister, Debra wife of Richard Mortland of Smithfield, Va.; brother, Kenneth Beard of Denver, Colo.; nieces Kayleigh Music, Kelly Mortland, and Courtney Mortland; and nephews, Andrew and James Beard, Collin, Trevor, and Andrew Teprovich. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Mt. Aetna Bible Church. There will be no viewing or visitation. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Myerstown. Grose Funeral Home, Myerstown, is entrusted with the arrangements.
