  Eleanor Behney 
  
  GROTON, CT Eleanor Behney, 87, passed away peacefully August 7, 2011, at Women 
  & Infants Hospital in Providence, R.I., with family at her side after fighting 
  her second courageous battle with cancer. Born May 4, 1924, in Bayonne, N.J., 
  she was the daughter of Philip and Caroline (Shanosky) Pierce. Her husband, 
  Edward J. Behney, predeceased her in 1989 and was a former resident of South 
  Annville. Surviving are her children, Joyce Gardner and her husband, Glenn of 
  Gales Ferry, Conn., Edward Behney, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Waterford, 
  Conn., Doris Watson and her husband, John of Needham, Mass., Jean Behney of 
  Groton, Conn., Helen Behney of Mystic, Conn., Kristen Behney, with whom she 
  made her home in Groton, and Philip Behney of Stonington, Conn. Also surviving 
  are her sister, Carol Smith of Glen Gardner N.J.; her brother-in-law, Harry M. 
  Behney, Jr. of Palmyra; and numerous grandchildren, cousins, nephews and 
  nieces. Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London, CT is assisting 
  the family with arrangements.
