Bennett, 93, died on April 30, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. Born to the late Edward and Bertha Walls Maloney in Chester, Bertha was raised in the Gardendale section on Boothwyn and resided there until 22 years ago when she moved to Lebanon, with her daughter and her family. An inspector at Aldan Mills in Lenni, Pa., in her early years, she retired as Housekeeper for the Chichester School District where she worked over 15 years. A member of Holy Savior Church in Linwood and St John Fisher Church in Boothwyn, she enjoyed reading, puzzles and annual trips to Myrtle Beach, S.C., with her grandchildren and great-grandson, Jordan. Bertha is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Ernst who died in 1982; a son, James E. Maloney' two brothers, James and Edward Maloney; and four sisters, Thelma Olephant, Theresa Quell, Anna Cappella and Catherine Maloney. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia (Anthony) Atz of Lebanon; one sister, Beatrice Wilson of Eddystone; three grandchildren, Christopher S. Atz, Ashley L. Atz and Jay E. Maloney; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Elizabeth and Michael. Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 4225 Chichester Ave., Boothwyn. There will be a visitation from 10:30 to 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, Pa. Interment will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood.
