Bergen, Jr., 81, formerly of Lebanon, died Monday, December 5, 2011, at The Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg. He was the husband of the late Marie (Tice) Bergen. Born in Pottsville, on July 11, 1930, Edward was the son of the late Edward D., Sr. and Anna Schneider Bergen. He was a retired purchasing manager at "The Computer Company" in Harrisburg. Prior to that, he worked for over 30 years at the Lebanon Steel Foundry. Edward was a graduate of Nativity H.S. in Pottsville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church, Lebanon, a former member of St. Gertrude's Social Club, Holy Name Society, and the Lebanon Community Theater. He is survived by six children, Kevin P., husband of Diane Bergen of Allentown, Edward J. Bergen of Cleveland, Ohio, Kathleen, wife of Daniel Spigelmyer of Lewistown, Pamela A., wife of David Auman of Lebanon, James M., husband of Sharon Bergen of Lebanon, and Julie A. Bergen, wife of Tom Boyer of Jonestown; grandchildren, Thomas Bergman, Jennifer Stine, Jonathan Bergen, Samantha Bergen, Tyler Bergen, Heather Boyer, Shannon Boyer, Daniel Spigelmyer, Jr., and Mariah Spigelmyer; and sisters, Anne Schnabel of Secane and Ellen Wike of Schuylkill Haven. He was preceded in death by siblings, Julia Scheitrum, Mary Bergen, and James Bergen. Viewings Thursday evening 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday morning 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon. Funeral Mass Friday at 1 p.m. from St. Cecilia's Church, 202 E. Lehman St., Lebanon. Interment private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors.
