Blatt MYERSTOWN Anna Louise Blatt, 92, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at StoneRidge Retirement Town Center. She was born on August 13, 1918, to Boaz G. Light and Margaret C. Light (nee Schock) in Lebanon. She was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of LHS in 1935 and LVC in 1939. She started her teaching career at the Franklin School (formerly at SE corner of 10th & Walnut Sts.) as a third grade teacher until 1949 when she was married. She worked with the USO Travelers Aid during WWII and in 1945 became a member of the Women's Auxiliary Board of the Lebanon USO Club. Anna met her future husband, William Blatt, an army recruit for the medical unit, while in the USO. They were married on June 25, 1949 at Hill Lutheran Church in Cleona by the late Rev. Harry T. Richwine. They were married for 54 years, living in Cleona. Her teaching career continued in 1964 with the AC School District in the Cleona building as a fourth grade teacher. She taught for the next 16 years and retired in 1980. Anna was a member of LVC Alumni Association, Lebanon Co. Retired School Employees' Association, PA Association of School Retirees, Lebanon Co. Educational Honor Society and American Association of University Women (AAUW). Anna enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandson, Andrew. She liked taking family summer trips to Ocean City, N.J., music, reading, especially mystery and historical fiction books. Anna also loved her family pets, Pal, Taffy and Wilfred. Surviving are daughters, Susan King, Lebanon, Barbara Blatt, Norcross, Ga.; grandchild, Andrew T. King; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, William F. Blatt. Viewing will be on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 119 N. 8th St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Kimmerling's Cemetery, Lebanon, following the service. Christman's Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the family with the arrangements.
