  Dr. Rev. Howard E. Brooks Jr. 
   
  PITMAN The Rev. Dr. Howard E. Brooks, Jr., 61, pastor of St. Paul's 
  Evangelical Congregational Church and Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 
  both of Pitman, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, October 21, 2011, at 
  his home. Prior to serving the Evangelical Congregational Churches in Pitman, 
  he served E.C. congregations in Conestoga, Frackville, Millersville, Ephrata, 
  and Myerstown. He was also a pastor for nine years in the Peninsula-Delaware 
  Conference of the United Methodist Church, serving congregations in 
  Greensboro/-Burrsville and Elkton, Md. He was born on November 3, 1949, in 
  Nassawaddox, Va., to the late Howard E. Brooks and Iris B. Brooks of Cape 
  Charles, Va. He was also predeceased by a sister, Iris Ann Brooks, also of 
  Cape Charles. He graduated from United Wesleyan College in Allentown in 1975. 
  He graduated from Evangelical School of Theology in Myerstown in 1978, and 
  received his doctorate from Drew University in New Jersey in 1993. He is 
  survived by his wife of 36 years, Cynthia K. Brooks; and three sons, Edward of 
  Rocky Mount, N.C., James of Denver, Colo., and Andrew of Baltimore, Md. 
  Viewing will be held on Tuesday at the Zion Evangelical Congregational Church 
  in Pitman from 9 to 11 a.m., where the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. 
  with the Rev. Paul Sherwood and the Rev. Dr. Gordon Lewis officiating.  The 
  Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home is assisting the family with the 
  arrangements.
