Byerly, 92, formerly of 7 Woodland Estates, Lebanon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011. Before her passing she had been a resident of Buffalo Valley Lutheran Home in Lewisburg, PA. She is now together again with her beloved husband, David Allen Byerly, founder of Byerly Insurance, Lebanon who preceded her in death in 1989. Lucille was born in Lebanon, PA, November 7, 1918, and was the only daughter of the late Roy and Myrtle Gollam, owners of Gollam's Ice Cream. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roy (Bud) Gollam. Lucille attended Lebanon High School and Lebanon Valley College. She worked for Penny's as a stocking model and later for Bethlehem Steel in a secretarial position. Lucille was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she and David held several volunteer positions of responsibility. She was also a lifetime member of the Lebanon Women's Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star #115, Lebanon. Lucille and her husband David were active members of the Lebanon Dance Club and the Lebanon Elks Club. She was the best of mothers and grandmothers and will be missed immensely by her family. She will be remembered as a kind and sweet lady by her many friends. Lucille was a great cook, serving her family and friends delicious dishes and desserts. Lucille and Dave loved their Savior and their Christian family. Lucille is survived by her only child, Karen Byerly Nicholson, and two grandsons, John Dewitt and David Allen Nicholson of Lewisburg. She is also survived by a long time family friend and loving companion, Howard (Hops) Starry. Family and friends are invited to attend Lucille's funeral service on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM with, Rev. Andrew Evensen officiating from the Ruffner-Porterfield Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, 890 Isabel Dr. (next to Quentin Circle), Lebanon. A viewing will be held from 7:00pm to 8:30pm from the funeral home on Friday evening, September 30 and from 10:00 to 11:00am on Saturday prior to the service. Interment will be held in the Mt. Annville Cemetery, Annville. Eastern Star Service by Lebanon Chapter #115 will be held Friday evening 8:15pm, at the funeral home. A time of fellowship will be provided for family and friends following the graveside service at Inn 422, Lebanon.
