M. shabodeho@aol.com March 6, 2011, 4:34 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on March 6, 2011 George A. Ciortan PALMYRA George A. Ciortan died Friday, March 4, 2011, on his 61st birthday in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center following a brief and unexpected illness. He was the husband of Carol Szekeres Ciortan, with whom he would have celebrated 37 years of marriage on June 22, 2011. Born in Steelton, in 1950, he was the son of the late Andrew G. and Laura Swartley Ciortan. George was a 1968 graduate of Steelton Highspire High School. He earned an associates degree from The Institute of Computer Management in Baltimore, Md. For 30 years he worked as a clerk typist in Special Tags for PennDOT until retiring in September 2009. George was a true Civil War buff, accumulating an extensive collection of both books and keepsakes over the years. Disney World was his favorite vacation destination. Movies, gardening, and photography were other hobbies. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Annville. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Ashley Nichole Ciortan at home, and Heather, wife of Travis C. Hossler of Palmyra; along with three month old grandson, Eric George Hossler. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Anna K. Szekeres of Steelton. A sister, Georgiann E. Ciortan, preceded him in death. Friends are invited to visit Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville 17003. A memorial service will follow.
