M. shabodeho@aol.com March 30, 2011, 1:41 am Published in Lebanon Daily News on March 29, 2011 Norma Viola Daihl HARRISBURG Norma Viola Kiscadden Daihl, 87, went home with the angels Sunday morning, March 27, 2011. She was born September 21, 1923, in Lebanon, to the late Robert Sr. and Florence Kiscadden. Norma is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward E. Daihl; daughters, Norma Kay Dively and her husband Vince, Suzanne E. Irish, Carol A. Hatter and her husband Harry; four grandchildren, Kristen Keatley and her husband Chad, Kelly Dively, Jamie Irish, and Philip (PJ) Irish, IV; two great-grandchildren Hayden and Lindsey Keatley; three brothers, Robert Kiscadden, Jr. and his wife Evelyn, Marlin Kiscadden, Sr. and his wife Larue, Jack Kiscadden and his wife Dorinne; and 10 nieces and nephews. She graduated from Lebanon High School and Lebanon Valley College. Her teaching career began in the Lebanon City School district teaching at the Harding School. After her marriage to Edward in 1948, she moved to Harrisburg and taught at the Swatara Junior High School for the Central Dauphin School District. Later she taught at the Lower Paxton Junior High School building and retired from the Central Dauphin School District after 29 years of teaching mathematics. Norma was a member of the Linglestown United Methodist Church for 62 years. She found her greatest pleasure teaching Sunday school and leading Bible Study Groups. Dedication to her church and the Lord was the inspiration that gave her direction. Maintaining a strong marriage and raising her family was her life's primary focus. She had a warm, friendly, contagious smile for everyone she met. Her openness and joy for life was felt by everyone around her. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. On Friday, April 1, 2011 the family will receive visitors from 10 to 11 a.m. with the service to follow. Visitation and the service will take place at the Hoover Funeral Home at 6011 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. Due to construction on Linglestown Rd., the funeral home parking lot can be accessed via Raspberry Alley off N. Mountain Rd. one block south of Linglestown square.
