  LEBANON Irene B. Darkes, 81, formerly of Charles St., Lebanon, died Friday, 
  March 25, 2011, at Cedar Haven. She was the widow of Irwin "Red" J. Darkes, who 
  died in 1992. Born in Fredericksburg, on December 23, 1929, she was the 
  daughter of the late Harold J. and Lottie M. (Kleinfelter) Werner. She was a 
  1947 graduate of Fredericksburg High School and a graduate of the Lebanon 
  Business School. She had been a secretary for Met-Ed, Lebanon, for over 30 
  years prior to her retirement. Devoting her life to the work of Trinity United 
  Methodist Church, Jonestown, she served as minister of music, choir director, 
  and organist/pianist for more than 50 years. She also served on the Missionary 
  Society of the church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #115, 
  Lebanon, a former member of the Sweet Adelines and enjoyed dancing, bowling, 
  playing the piano, and being with her family. She is survived by sisters, 
  Eleanor Weller of Myerstown, Shirley, wife of David Witmer of Hershey, Janice, 
  wife of Joseph Hartman of Cleona, and Connie, wife of Charles Amendola of St. 
  Mary's.; brothers, Lynn, husband of Kitty Werner of Jonestown, and Larry Werner 
  of Cleona; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, 
  Randy Darkes in 1955, and a brother, Gene Werner in 1996. Funeral services will 
  be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from Trinity United Methodist Church, Jonestown. 
  There will be no viewing. Family will receive friends Thursday at 10 a.m. at 
  the church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.   Grose Funeral 
  Home, Myerstown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
