M. shabodeho@aol.com March 30, 2011, 1:37 am Published in Lebanon Daily News on March 27, 2011 Edris W. Davies UPPER ALLEN TWP. Edris W. Davies, 79, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011, at home. Born October 5, 1931, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Edris G. and Esther M. (Shope) Davies. Ed was a graduate of Wheaton (Ill.) College and retired from Baxter International Pharmaceuticals. He was a former teacher and assistant coach at John Harris High School. He also coached Northern Pee Wee Pony Midget football for many years. In 1987 he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member and former elder at Immanuel Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Mechanicsburg, and a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Edith Luft Davies; two sons, David E. Davies and wife, Deborah of Harrisburg, and Edris A. Davies and wife, Diane of Grantville; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; a sister, Bettye Frierson of Venice, Fla.; and two brothers, Richard of Louden, Tenn., and Ray of Sarasota, Fla. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene F. Davies, and a son, Scott E. Davies. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel CMA Church with the Rev. Terry Smith officiating and assisted by the Rev. Ray Davies. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
