"Bob" Deitzler, 91, died on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at VA Medical Center. He was born on Monday, December 8, 1919, to the late Robert A. Deitzler and Irene Deitzler nee Benninghoff in Lebanon. He was a 1936 graduate of Lebanon High School. He was a Sgt in the 95th Infantry Division in WWII and received a bronze medal with battle stars for Battle of the Buldge & Rhineland, combat infantry badge, good conduct medal, European Campaign, WWII Victory Medal, and Army of Occupational Medal. Robert was a member of Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226 F&AM for 50 years, AARP, and Lebanon Valley Senior Center. He retired from Quaker Alloy in 1982 and worked at Lebanon Steel Foundry. Prior to his illness, Robert enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and woodworking. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Surviving are daughter, Andrea, spouse of Jeffrey Dawson of Palmyra; son, Phillip C. "Buzz" Deitzler of Lebanon; daughters, Beth E., spouse of David Santana of Lebanon, Dede E. "Marian", spouse of Jedd Erdman of Schaefferstown; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Harold Deitzler. He was preceded in death by wife, Marian Deitzler nee Hoke; son, Michael R. Deitzler; one brother; and two sisters. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland St., Lebanon. Memorial services will be on Friday at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with full military honors, following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc., 2665 Lake Meade Road, East Berlin, PA 17316; or Developmental and Disability Services.
