Devitz, 93, surrounded by his loving family, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011, at the hospice unit of the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Carl is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rida Jeannette; and two children, Julianne, wife of Jonathan Minear of Atlanta, Ga., and Kathleen, wife of Hayes A. Clark of Lebanon. Carl is also survived by five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A son, Carl, preceded him in death. Carl was a veteran of World War II, where he was awarded numerous medals and citations. Carl was severely wounded and was a prisoner of war in the European Theater. A life long resident of Lebanon and a retiree of the Lebanon Steel Foundry, Carl was an avid outdoorsman. He was a past officer of R. Field and Stream and past secretary/treasurer of the Pennsylvania Trappers Association. Funeral Mass Tuesday morning 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Cecilia, 202 E. Lehman St., Lebanon 17046. Interment at St. Gertrude's Cemetery. Viewing from 10 to 11 Tuesday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lebanon Catholic School, 1400 Chestnut St., Lebanon, PA 17042. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
