Dieffenbach, 91, Gretna Springs, Manheim died Monday, March 21, 2011, at ManorCare Health Services, Lebanon. He was the husband of the late Johann M. Opeil Dieffenbach. Born in Main Twp., Columbia Co., PA on March 1, 1920, he was a son of the late Roy K. and Susie A. Deitrich Dieffenbach. He was a graduate of Danville State Hospital School of Nursing and Wilkes University. Nevin was a retired R.N. and N.H.A., serving at all levels of nursing from Nursing Assistant to Director of Nursing, retiring in 1980 from the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Lebanon, life member of both the American Legion Post 40 and Myerstown VFW Post 6075. Surviving are son, Alwin, husband of Fern Kreider Dieffenbach, Lebanon; daughter-in-law, Jane Doster Dieffenbach, Bethel; grandson, Todd, husband of Lori Shumberger Dieffenbach, Etters; granddaughter, Lisa, wife of Jon Boyer, Bethel; great-grandsons, Matt Dieffenbach and Evan Boyer; great-granddaughters, Kiley Gallagher and Jessica Boyer; several nieces and nephews. Nevin was preceded in death by two sons, Nevin F. and Edwin G.; three brothers, Earl, Glenn, and Warren, two sisters, Lavere Hoyt and Ruth Bittenbender. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Nevin's memorial service Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 11:00 AM from Messiah Lutheran Church, 1800 Oak St, Lebanon with Rev. Barry S. Kendall officiating. Visitation will be Saturday 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Private interment will be held at New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy, PA.
