Ditzler, 93, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011, at Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Margaret Habig Ditzler, who died in 1987. Born in Lickdale on May 31, 1918, he was the son of the late Francis W. and Pauline Deaven Ditzler. He and his late brother John were the owners and operators of Ditzler Bros. Garage, which they operated for 34 years. He retired in 1983. Harvey was a member of the Harrisburg Lodge Chapter of the Masonic Order for over 50 years. (32nd Degree) Zembo Temple; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Mount Olivet Lodge #704 of Lebanon, the Lebanon Co. Shrine Club, a life member of the VFW Post 23, the Fredericksburg American Legion Post 915 for 54 years, a life member of the Lebanon County Historical Society, and Honorary Member of the Lickdale Community Fire Co. and the Green Point Fire Co. He also served 13 years as a Union Twp. Supervisor. He was a member of the Sattazahn Lutheran Church., and a former member of the Pleasant Hill Chapel and Sunday School where he was the Supt. for 33 years and served for over 40 years as the cemetery treasurer. Harvey was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force where he served in Germany during WW II. He was formerly employed at the Bethlehem Steel Plant Con-Site and at Olmstead Air Force, Middletown as an electrician. Harvey loved the outdoors, deer and small game hunting, his Beagle hunting dogs, farming, flowers and gardening. He loved to feed the birds and watch the humming birds. Harvey and Margaret loved to travel and spent time all over the United States and Europe. Harvey loved children and although they were never blessed with their own, he was "Uncle Harvey" to every "child". In addition to his immediate family, he was Uncle Harvey to 28 nieces and nephews, 51 great nieces and nephews and at least 34 great, great nieces and nephews. He is survived by a brother Francis W. Ditzler, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Lickdale; his sister Anna widow of Robert Felty of Lansdale and 20 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers John, Clarence and Warren and his sisters Sarah Fake and Katie Boltz. Memorial services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Sattazahn Lutheran Church. Masonic Service will be at 5:45 Thursday evening followed by a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. Interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Chapel Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
