Eash, Sr., 89, of Cedar Haven Nursing Home died Monday, December 12, 2011, at the home. He was the husband of the late Thelma (Blough) Eash who died in 2007. They were married November 22, 1950, and celebrated 56 years together. He was born in Johnstown, on Wednesday, September 27, 1922, to the late George and Cora Ella (Keafer) Eash. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Philippines during WWII earning many decorations and citations including 4 Bronze Service Stars. He retired from M.S. Hershey School Farms where he worked for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, VFW Post 9639 Shellsville, and the AMVETS. He was a hard working man with a loving heart for his family. He is survived by his children, George A. Eash and his wife, Deb of Fredericksburg, Merle L. Eash, Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Annville, Donald G. Eash and his wife, Betsy of Downingtown, Joyce E. Brightbill and her husband, Gary of Fredericksburg, Va., and Judy M. Hair and her husband, Terry of Beaverdam, Va.; 30 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Clair Eash of Johnstown, and Jay Dean Eash and his wife, Mae of Bangor, Calif. In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Michelle Brightbill; a great-grandson, Cody Brightbill; six sisters and four brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 19, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Reverend Douglas Smith officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Sunday, December 18, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra and Monday from 9 until time of the service at the church.
