Kettering Embich, 92, of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Road, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, in the home. She was the wife of Harold F. "Jack" Embich, who died in 1988. Born in Myerstown, on March 8, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Simon S. and Hannah E. Brandt Kettering. She was the former secretary at Covenant United Methodist Church, the secretary for the Covenant Cemetery, and then served as a secretary in the guidance office for the Lebanon School District. Ruth was a 1936 graduate of Lebanon High School and a graduate of Lebanon Business College. She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, treasurer of the United Methodist Women, and a member of the Bethany Bible Class of the church. She was also a member of the Water Works Fire Co. Auxiliary and was one of the first women firefighters in Lebanon County. She was the treasurer of Lebanon Hard of Hearing, and enjoyed golf and bowling. Surviving are two sons, Thomas R., husband of Gwenn Embich of Annville, and Gary L., husband of Nancy Embich of Saylorsburg; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul H. Kettering of Lebanon; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman and Russell Kettering; and two sisters, M. June Kettering and Grace Zorn. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17, at 1:30 p.m. from the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
