Emswiler, 82, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2011, at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy. He was the husband of Elsie A. "Betty" Emswiler, who passed away on July 24, 2005. He was born in Hershey, son of the late Ivan and Gertrude Steckbeck Emswiler. He was a police officer for 19 years for the city of Lebanon and also was the Director of Security for Hershey Entertainment and Resort, Co. at the Hotel Hershey for 11 years before his retirement in 1988. He was a graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School, Class of 1946; a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He is survived by two sons, James R. husband of Deborah Emswiler, Concord, and Douglas M. Emswiler, Sr., New Hampshire; two daughters, Barbara wife of Richard Lantz, Mountville, and Kathleen wife of Brian Rutter, Orlando, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Veronica wife of John Palkovic, Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann Emswiler. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Thursday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Kenneth F. Lawrence as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with Full Military Honors. Friends may call at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 W.
