Finley PALMYRA Walter Dwight Finley, 61, passed away in Lebanon Veterans Hospital on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2011. Walter was the husband of Cherie L. Lineaweaver Finley. He was born in Philadelphia, on June 12, 1949, a son of the late Walter and India Cook Finley. Mr. Finley was a carpenter by trade. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Stars, and Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1463 of Lititz, AmVets and American Legion Post 662. Surviving are his wife; stepchildren, Nicole Shimp of State College, Gregory Danz of Lebanon, and Mark Danz, companion of Kristen Spangenberg of Palmyra; grandson, Conner Danz; godson, Harold Harnish; sister, Denise Harnish of Lancaster, brother, Edwin, husband of Pat Finley of Delaware; several nieces and nephews; and mother-in- law, Joan, wife of Jim Harter of Lebanon. Walter was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Scarbough. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the Rohland Funeral Home Inc., 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon 17042 with Pastor K.M. Brown, Sr., Chaplain of Asera Care Hospice in Lancaster, officiating. There will be a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
