Fischer, 84, of 192 Camp Strause Rd., Fredericksburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of Alice M. Durnford Fischer. They had celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in February. Mr. Fischer was born in Columbia on March 22, 1927. He was the son of the late Martin and Orpha (Steiner) Fischer. Clair retired in 1988 after 17 years of service as a kiln operator for NARCO. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, Jonestown. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching professional wrestling. He was an Army Air Force veteran. Surviving, in addition to his wife Alice, are five sons: David W. husband of Barbara Fischer, Samuel J. husband of Lori Fischer, John W. husband of Joyce Fischer, Mark W. husband of Cheryl Fischer, Joseph W. husband of Christy Fischer; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Horner, Harriet Horn; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. Funeral Mass Monday, March 28, 2011 at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, US 22 & N. Mill Rd Jonestown, 17038. Interment on Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. Viewing hours Monday 8 to 10 a.m. at the Chapel. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
