Foster, 95, of the Claremont Retirement Village, Columbus, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011. Born October 4, 1916, in Gilmore, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late William and Edna Berkshire Helter. Mary graduated from Uhrichsville (OH) High School and attended Ohio University. Her late husband, Taylor, was an educational instructor with the Lebanon Veterans Medical Center. Mary was also an educator, having taught for many years in Pennsylvania and Ohio schools. Survivors include her daughter-in- law, Marge Karhoff Foster; her grandchildren, David V. (Donna) Foster and Erin E. Foster; great-granddaughters, Ella, Julia, Sarah, and Jayden Foster; a niece, Denise Phillips; and a nephew, James Helter. In addition to her parents and her husband, Taylor, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Jay V. Foster; a brother, Russell Helter; a sister, Nova R. Helter; and by a niece, Diane E. Arnold. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 14, at 1:30 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 803 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, Ohio, with the Rev. Lynda K. Masters officiating. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover. Following the committal there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
