Gardner, 92, formerly of Dauphin, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was born in Jonestown, on December 2, 1918, to the late Paul E. and Noreen Heilman Fridinger. She was a Secretary for numerous departments within the Warren County Governmental System for 20 years. She was a graduate of Steelton High School, Steelton. She was a very active member of United Presbyterian Church of Belvidere for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday School, was a church officer, and a member of the choir. Myrtle was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Belvidere Chapter, for over 50 years and was a member of the Women's Club of Belvidere for over 55 years, where she served as President, was Membership Chairwoman and served on the Board of Directors. She was a Lifetime Member of the Warren County Historical and Genealogical Society, where she served as membership secretary for over 10 years, and was a driver for Meals on Wheels. Myrtle, at the age of 89, received the Legion of Honor Award from the Chapel of Four Chaplains for her service to her community. Myrtle is survived by her son, George S. Gardner, Jr., and his wife, Bonnie, and a daughter, Barbara Gardner, with whom she resided, all of Belvidere; grandchildren, Cheryl White and her husband, Charlie, and Thomas and Jason Gardner; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Dylan Anderson, Matthew, Jacob, and Olivia White, and Ryan and Seth Gardner; nieces, Judith Higgins of Camp Hill and Emily Gardner of Ashville, N.C.; and a nephew, William Gardner of West Chester. She was predeceased by her husband, George S. Gardner, Sr.; a sister, Evelyn Baker; and a granddaughter, Marcia Gardner. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at 12 noon at the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, N.J. 08865. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 6701 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
