Garner, Jr., 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2011, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was born Sunday, May 10, 1942, in Hershey, to the late Earl E. Garner, Sr. and Lyle V. (Via) Garner. He graduated from Hershey High School and owned and operated Earl Garner and Sons Garage. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during Vietnam. He was a member of Hershey Seventh Day Adventist Church and Palmyra Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed a simple life, surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by a brother, Dale R. Garner and wife, Dawn of Grantville; two sisters, Shirley J. Garner and Nancy Steinbacher, both of California; a niece, Desiree Swygert and husband, John of Hershey, and their son, Kevin Albert; and a nephew, Douglas Garner and wife, Annie of Colonial Park, and their sons, Finnegan and Sullivan Garner. A memorial service will be held at his church, Hershey Seventh Day Adventist Church, 610 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey 17033 on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 1 p.m. with Pastor David R. Sanner officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
