M. shabodeho@aol.com June 19, 2011, 10:34 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on June 14, 2011 Ray L. Gassert MYERSTOWN Ray L. Gassert, 77, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011, at his residence. He was the loving husband of Jacqueline (Barshinger) Gassert for 54 years. Born in Lebanon, on January 1, 1934, he was the son of the late Paul and Cora (Kline) Gassert. He was retired from Quaker Alloy Casting Company. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed NASCAR Racing, working on cars, cutting grass, helping other people and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and neighbors. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Dori, wife of Jeff Reich, of Cape Coral, Fla.; Randy Gassert and Fiancé Sherri, of Lebanon; Lori, wife of David Summers, of Lebanon; Scott Gassert, of Lebanon and Kelly Gassert, of Lebanon. Beloved grandfather, known as Paw Paw to 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also survived by a brother, Wayne, husband of Arlene Gassert of Lebanon and a sister, Betty Simmons, of Green Vally, Ariz. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Gassert and a sister Verna Martzall. Memorial Service Thursday 3 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon, 17042. Visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
