  Maria C. Gombas 
  
  CORNWALL Maria C. Gombas, 75, Cornwall, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011, 
  after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born August 16, 1935, in Budapest, 
  Hungary, a daughter of the late Nandor and Maria KonzSzendrey. She was a 
  resident of Lebanon for over 30 years. She had survived Nazi occupation during 
  WWII, surviving many dangers related to war, and witnessed the death of many 
  neighbors and friends from repeated bombings. In 1956 she escaped the 
  communist regime during the Hungarian Revolution. She held a degree in 
  secondary education and a Master's degree in Biochemistry and worked many 
  years in cancer and joint replacement research. Maria is survived by her 
  fiance, A. Robert Krueger, MAJ U.S. Air Force (Ret); two sons, William Bela 
  C., a concert violinist, husband of Dawn Vitez, Cornwall; Wallace A. Vitez, 
  Attorney at Law, Lt. Colonel, U.S. Army JAGC, Lebanon; granddaughters, 
  Christina M. Vitez, England and Samantha L. Vitez, CA. Family and friends are 
  respectfully invited to attend Maria's funeral service Monday, August 22, 
  2011, at 1 PM from Quentin United Church of Christ with the Rev. Jacqueline 
  Linglebach officiating. A viewing will be held Sunday, August 21, 2011, from 6 
  to 8 PM at Ruffner-Porterfield Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, 890 
  Isabel Dr., (next to Quentin Circle), Lebanon and Monday from 12:30 PM to time 
  of service at the church. Interment will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at 
  1 PM in the Junior Order Cemetery, Preston, MD.
