  ALLENTOWN Afifie J. Haddad, 79, of Allentown and Manhattan, and formerly of 
  Boyertown, passed away on February 24, 2011, at The Frederick Mennonite 
  Community where she was a patient since February 10th. She was the loving wife 
  of Donald "Mike" Kaas, and the devoted daughter of the late Alfred and Pauline 
  (Charles) Haddad to whom she was their first child born on March 16, 1931, in 
  Allentown. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by two sisters; 
  Thelma Unger, widow of the late Daniel D. Unger, of Boyertown, and Barbara 
  Romesburg, wife of Harold Romesburg, of Drexel Hill, and a brother; Charles A. 
  Haddad, husband of Mary Louise Haddad, of Boyertown. She was predeceased by a 
  brother; the late George Haddad, husband of Virginia Haddad, of Allentown. She 
  is also survived by a step-son; Donald Kaas, husband of the late Deborah Kaas, 
  of Palm, a step-daughter; Dorothy Fisher, wife of John Fisher, of Peoria, IL., 
  and many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, and friends, all of whom shall miss 
  her dearly. Afifie was a graduate of Boyertown High School and a Commencement 
  Speaker at graduation for the class of 1949, and she had attended Susquehanna 
  University. Afifie established her residence in Allentown, but also maintained 
  an apartment in Manhattan during the 35 years she was president of an apparel 
  manufacturing company she started with her brother, Charles, in 1975. Afifie 
  managed the New York sales office which sales generated by her helped build the 
  vertical knitwear manufacturing company, Ocello, Inc., of 250 employees in 
  Richland, Pa. She developed the business with sales to Sears, J.C. Penney, 
  Macy's, Bloomingdales, Lands End, Eddie Bauer, L.L. Bean, and many others. 
  Prior to moving to Manhattan, Afifie was active in many Boyertown Community 
  groups, including the Junior Women's Club, of which she served as president, 
  and Faith Chapter of Eastern Star, of which she served as Worthy Matron. She 
  was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Boyertown, where she 
  served as a choir member, youth advisor, teacher, and faithful worshipper at 
  Sunday Services. In Manhattan, she was a member of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian 
  Church. The Visitation Pastor from that church, The Rev. Helen E. Jackson, was 
  a faithful visitor and spiritual advisor for Afifie during her long illness in 
  Manhattan. Pastor Jackson will join family and friends in Boyertown to deliver 
  the Meditation at the service for Afifie at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran 
  Church in Boyertown. Having a lifelong interest in classical music and ballet, 
  Afifie enjoyed attending many concerts of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra 
  and performances of the New York City Ballet. She also enjoyed classical organ 
  music as was played at her New York home church, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian. Her 
  love for organ music motivated her younger sister, Barbara, to become an 
  accomplished church organist. A service of Thanksgiving to God for the life of 
  Afifie Haddad will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, with the family 
  meeting friends and relatives from 9:15-10:15 AM at St. John's Evangelical 
  Lutheran Church, 45 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown, Pa., 19512, and the 
  Service of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. with the Rev. John G. Pearson 
  presiding. The Rev. Helen E. Jackson will deliver the Meditation, and Ranee 
  Reitz will be the organist. Barbara Romesburg, Afifie's sister, will also be an 
  organist. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown. Arrangements 
  by Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1020 E. Philadelphia Avenue, 
  Gilbertsville, Pa., 19525. AFIFIE, she was loving and loved.
