Hauer of Milford died Monday December 5, 2011, at Milford Hospital. He was 80. Mr. Hauer was born December 3, 1931, in Iona, to the late Virdis S. Hauer and Bertha E. Yiengst. He served over 20 years in the United States Air Force retiring in 1970. After his military career he became a corrections officer at the Delaware Corrections Center in Smyrna. He was a member of the Camden Wyoming Moose Lodge Post #203, American Legion Walter L. Fox Post #2, and Veterans of Foreign Wars #3238, the Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company in Myerstown. Mr. Hauer enjoyed various sports. He played soccer for Myerstown High School, he was an umpire for the Camden-Wyoming Little League from 1967-1977. He was an avid Phillies fan and he enjoyed American western movies and novels. He was very proud of his grandchildren and their endeavors with school and sports. Paul held his hometown friends and family close to his heart at all times. He still attended his school reunions in Myerstown and spoke of his classmates often with his children. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen M. Bordeaux, Iva R. Cederborg, Mable L. King, Clara I. Rahn; and brothers, Roy E, Miles V, Lloyd H, Harvey W, and Russell A. Hauer. Mr. Hauer is survived by his son, Kevin V. Hauer and his wife, Susan of Florence, S.C.; his stepson, Richard A. Redman, Jr. of Lincolnton, Ga.; daughters, Laura A. Hauer of Wanette, Okla., Kathleen M. Wilson and her husband Jeffrey of Rosamond, Calif., Paula A. Culhane and her husband Timothy of Rutland, Mass.; siblings, Earl W. Hauer, Virdis W. Hauer, of Myerstown, Emerson W. Hauer of Bloomsburg, and Dorothy W. Houser of Annville; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held 6 to 8 Sunday evening December 11, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover, Del. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Friedens Lutheran Church, W. Washington Avenue, Myerstown. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be 1p.m., in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township.
