Heckman, Jr., 52, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Cedar Haven, Lebanon. He was the husband of Sheri L. (Schoener) Heckman, to whom he would have been married 22 years on May 6, 2011. Born in New Bedford, Mass., on July 30, 1958, he was the son of Marcia A. (Souza) Heckman of Lake Placid, Fla., and the late Charles D. Heckman. He was a 1976 graduate of ELCO High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He had been a truck driver for many years at Carlos R. Leffler, Inc., Richland. He was a member of Midway Church of the Brethren, Lebanon, and had been a volunteer firefighter for Keystone Fire Co., Myerstown. He enjoyed jogging, spending time with his family, and studying Isshinryu Karate, where he earned a black belt. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by daughters, Amber, wife of Dan Lowe of Coatsville, and Abbie Heckman at home; sons, Charles D Heckman, III of New York and Brett Heckman of Portland, Ore.; stepdaughters, Kendra Peiffer at home and Bethany Peiffer of Hartford, Conn.; granddaughter, Olivia Lowe; sisters, Marsheela McCallister of Port Orchard, Wash., and Jody Duke of Clinton, S.C.; brother, Darrell Heckman of Lake Placid, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. Viewing Friday at 1 p.m. Interment at Tulpehocken U.C.C. Cemetery, Richland.
