'Whitey' Heller, 101, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Lebanon Valley Home. She was born on Thursday, September 9, 1909, to the late Sam Bross and Stella Bross (nee Peiffer) in Lebanon. She was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ. Emma married Dec 15, 1945 to the late George A. Heller, Sr. She was raised by Elias and Annie Bensing. Emma was a lifetime member of the U.C.C. Home Auxiliary, Lebanon Senior Center and St. Mark's U.C.C. Mature Adults. She was in the garment industry at age 14 and retired in 1965. Emma was the cofounder of the gift shop at Lebanon Valley Home. She enjoyed current events, watching the news and weather channels. Emma also enjoyed playing pinochle, puzzles and reading and at church she liked the sewing room, bazaars and the Bethany Home. Surviving are stepson, George Jr., spouse of Ruth Heller, Myerstown; stepgrandchildren, George, III spouse of Eileen Heller, Julia spouse of Robert Grodzicki; step great-grandchildren, Brieanna spouse of Tyler Heisey, George Heller, IV, Sabrina Heller, Paul Heller, Jeffrey Heller, Shannon Grodzicki, Caitlyn Grodzicki; half siblings, Charles Grumbine, Mary Long, Dorothy Boyer, Betty Kline, Elsie Harnish. She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband, by half brothers, Amos and Kenneth Grumbine. Viewing will be on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, following the service. Christman's Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the family with the arrangements.
