M. shabodeho@aol.com May 18, 2011, 1:07 am Published in Lebanon Daily News on May 14, 2011 Rodney L. Hoover JONESTOWN Rodney L. "Rod" Hoover, 70, died on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at his home. Born in Stouchsburg on June 30, 1940, he was the son of the late Warren W. Hoover and Ruth D. Klopp. He graduated from Conrad Weiser High School in 1957. Rodney was a member Tulpehocken Reformed Church. Rod was an archery shooter for 40 to 45 years, he was 4th best archer in the world in 1982, and he held 2 National Archery Association world records, traveled all over the world, he is in the archery hall of fame and still holds many state and regional records. Rod helped with Boy Scout archery at Camp Bashore. Trish and Glen Gray were very close friends of Rodney who watched over him during his last few years. He is survived by a daughter, Kelly wife of Rick Smith of Myerstown; a brother, David Hoover of Clear Brook, Va.; two grandchildren, Jenna wife of Derek Reich and Jade Smith; and one great-grandchild, Lincoln Reich. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m. at Camp Bashore Boy Scout Reservation, 160 Moonshine Rd., Jonestown, PA 17038. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to the Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice. Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
