Hurst, 85, formerly of Bareville, PA, died Saturday, December 24, 2011, at her home. Born in West Earl Twp., Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Noah Z. and Lizzie (Weaver) Nolt. Her husband, Walter M. Hurst, died in 2005. Katie was a homemaker and a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference. Surviving are seven children, Lester N., married to Marlene (Nolt) Hurst of Loon Lake, WA, Arlene N., married to Lloyd B. Martin of Jonestown, Leonard N., married to Pauline (Reiff) Hurst of Newville, Esther N., married to David H. Zimmerman of Lebanon, Mervin N., married to Fern (Martin) Hurst of Robesonia, Marlin N., married to Arlene (Martin) Hurst of Robesonia, and Glenn N., married to Susan (Zimmerman) Hurst with whom she resided; 47 grandchildren; 78 great grandchildren; three brothers, Jonas W. Nolt of Newville, Jacob W. Nolt of Kutztown, and Menno W. Nolt of Stevens; and three sisters, Annie Burkholder of Myerstown, Martha, married to Irvin Zimmerman of Ephrata, and Frances, married to Paul Martin of Narvon. Preceding her in death is a grandson, Mervin Hurst, Jr. in 1983; two sisters, Lizzie and Emma Nolt; and a brother, Clayton W. Nolt. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 9:30 am at Fairmount Homes Farmcrest Chapel, 1100 Farmcrest Drive, Ephrata, with further services at 10 am at the Groffdale Mennonite Church with the Bishops Curvin Z. Zimmerman and Leonard L. Brubaker officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday from 4-6 and 7-9 pm at the Fairmount Homes Farmcrest Chapel.
