M. shabodeho@aol.com April 12, 2011, 4:22 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on April 8, 2011 Eugene M. Kline WOMELSDORF Eugene "Chet" M. Kline, 80, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at his residence. He was the husband of Joyce M. (Hassler) Kline, to whom he would have been married 56 years on June 11, 2011. Born in Heidelberg Twp., Berks County, on December 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Ira D. and Beulah E. (Himmelreich) Kline. A 1949 graduate of Robesonia High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, during which time he played with the World Championship Fast Pitch Softball Team. He was employed by the Conrad Weiser School District as the supervisor of transportation and grounds from 1966 until his retirement in 1993. During this time, he served as the varsity boys basketball coach for several years. Prior to working for the school district, he was employed for many years by the Farr Nursery and Landscaping Company, Womelsdorf. He coached Town Team Basketball, ran the Conrad Weiser Youth Basketball Program for many years, and was a member of the Boys Basketball Old Timers for which he both played and coached. A member of St. John's (Hain's) U.C.C., Wernersville, he was also a member of the Bernville VFW Post 15040, the Bernville American Legion Post 732, a lifetime member of the Lebanon County Beagle Club, and a life member of the Pioneer Hose Co. #1, Robesonia. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, camping, and attending basketball games. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Debra S., wife of David B. Brubaker of Womelsdorf; sister, Marian K. Wise of Womelsdorf; granddaughter, Emily R., wife of Justin K. Huie of Myerstown; grandson, Joshua D. Brubaker of Allentown; great-grandson, Avery S. Huie; and a great-granddaughter, Myla C. Huie. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy K. Muth, in 1996. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. Viewings Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment at St. John's (Hain's) Cemetery, Wernersville.
