Klinger, Sr., 79, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011, in Schuylkill Medical Center South Jackson Street, Pottsville. Born on May 13, 1932, in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late John Rupp and the late Bessie Klinger Rhoad. John was a member of the Sattizahn Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council. He was a graduate of Jonestown High School. John was a Pfc in the Army having served during the Korean Conflict with the 121st TT Company. He received the Korean Service Medal w/ 3 bronze service stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a a life member of both the Pine Grove V.F.W. Post 3432, and the Pine Grove American Legion Post 374 and was an active member of the Military Honor Guard Unit in Pine Grove. John worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for V.A. Hospital, Lebanon. He was a member of the Pine Grove Masonic Lodge #409 F. & A. M., the Harrisburg Consistory and the Shriners. He was a life member of the following, the Oak Grove Sportsman Club, the Red Suspenders Sportsman Club, the NRA and the North American Hunting Club. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Corrine Aungst Klinger; four sons, Rodney and wife, Darlene Klinger of Port St. Luci, Fla., Ronald and wife, Peg Klinger of Pine Grove, Jeffrey and wife, Lisa Klinger of Thornton, John, Jr. and wife, Krista Klinger, of Pine Grove; six grandchildren, Monica wife of Travis Diehl, Jeremy Klinger, Elise Klinger; Jeffrey Klinger, Jr., Jesse Rhen; Jason Hebener; three great-grandchildren, Cody Diehl, Owen Diehl; Clark Diehl; one sister, Grace Bretz, Florida; four step brothers, John Rupp, Elias Rupp, Robert Rupp; Terry Rupp; four step sisters, Sarah Dove, Mary Kreiser, Helen Light, Annie Rupp, all of Lebanon county, and a Cousin, Irvin Rupp in Florida. Services will be held at H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Friday at 12 noon with Rev. Ted Hummel officiating. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., with Masonic services to be held at 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
