Koehler, 47, died Monday, July 18, 2011, while defending our country in Afghanistan. He was a native of Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Ringgold for three years. Sgt. Koehler served in the United States Marine Corps for six years and joined the National Guard where he has served for 20 years. He was due to retire in January of 2012. Sgt. Koehler was a truck driver with Crowe Transportation and was a member of Cowboy Church. He was a passionate motorcyclist and a dirt track racing enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Koehler. Survivors are his loving wife, lifelong friend, and life partner, Cheryl Koehler; daughters, Shelbi Koehler of Ringgold, Ga., Tobi Koehler and Kayla Koehler, both of Pine Grove; mother, Ruthie Koehler of Lebanon; mother-in-law, Rita Treadwell of Ringgold, Ga.; sisters, Elaine Dietz of Cleona, Nichole McCabe of Manheim; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Randy Harden officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway, Ga. Interment will be in Anderson Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
