Kreis QUEENSBURY, NY Gregory James Kreis, 51, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C., following a courageous battle with first COPD and then, after his double lung transplant, BOS. Greg was born on January 22, 1960, in Herkimer, N.Y., to Charles Harold Kreis and Arlene Sherman Kreis of Myerstown. He graduated from Richfield Springs High School in 1978. He graduated from Potsdam Crane School of Music and then got his master's in administration at Castleton State College in 1991. Greg began his career as an elementary music teacher at Schuylerville Central School. He later became the assistant principal at South Glens Falls Junior High School, was the principal at Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton Central School, and he has been the middle school principal at Corinth Central School for 16 years. He married his wife, Mariesa, on April 16, 1988 in Richfield Springs, N.Y. He has two daughters, Karina and Kayla. Greg was a devoted husband and father. Greg loved the simple things in life. His greatest love was spending time with his family. He loved his dogs, Carmella and Mulan. He loved to play the piano and trombone. He loved the Arts. He always got a lot of laughs while watching Seinfield. And, he always loved a good home-cooked meal. In addition to his wife, parents and two daughters, he is survived by his nine siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service in the auditorium at the Corinth Central School, 105 Oak St., on Saturday, November 12, 2011, from 2 to 6 p.m. A reception will follow in the cafeteria. In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Greg Kreis Memorial Fund at Glens Falls National Bank, 696 Upper Glen St., Queensbury, NY 12804. The donations will be used for a memorial in Greg's honor, at the Corinth Middle School. Greg will be remembered for his kind heart, beautiful smile, and big blue eyes. He will always be remembered for the difference he made in so many children's lives and the difference he made in everyone's lives. He was the best husband, father, son, brother, friend, neighbor, co-worker, teacher, administrator, and patient. We will always miss you. Rest in peace, my love.
