Long, 87, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at home surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer. He was born June 23, 1924, in Lebanon, the son of Rufus and Minnie Long. Vince attended Lebanon High School. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he worked at the VA Medical Center as a nursing assistant until his retirement. Due to Vince's desire to spread the word and do for others, he took a job delivering Meals on Wheels, which he did for almost 35 years. Vince was active within the church and most recently attended Jonestown Bible Church. He spent most of his time studying the Bible, witnessing to other people, spending time with his family, and playing chess online. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Joyce (Livering) Long, are his four daughters, Sharon Fulk, Lisa Bouchard, Sheila Winski, and Linda Maulden; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are asked to rejoice in his eternal rest as he is now with the Lord.
