Lucy, 78, of Raleigh Road, died peacefully Wednesday, October 12, 2011, in her residence after a valiant struggle with cancer and other serious illnesses. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roy B. Lucy, Jr.; two daughters, Melissa Dicker of Gainesville, Va., and Jennifer Steigelman of Harrisburg; and a son, John Lucy of Los Angeles, Calif. She was a loving member of the Thomas family of Annville, headed by her late mother, Della M. Herr Thomas; and including her two brothers, Robert Thomas of Myerstown and Jack Thomas of Hershey; and three sisters, Doris Shull of Lindenwold, N.J., Virginia Bowman of Harrisburg, and Thelma Clark, wife of Robert Clark of Mechanicsburg. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Thomas and Lee Thomas. Born in Annville, Fran was the daughter of the late Albert N. and Della M. Herr Thomas. She was a 1951 graduate of Annville High School, a 1954 graduate of Lebanon Valley College, and pursued graduate studies in Political Science at the University of Delaware. She served on the Radnor School Board, and had a successful career with TLB Solomon Software, in Malvern. Fran was an avid reader of history and current events, and enjoyed traveling, bird watching, gardening, local history, and genealogy. She was active with the Annville High School Alumni Association, Daughters of the American Colonists, Friends of Old Annville, and the Meyer Family in America. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 17, at 4:30 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main St., Annville, with her nephew, the Rev. Jeffrey Snyder, officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Interment will be at a later date at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
