M. shabodeho@aol.com February 17, 2011, 7:26 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on February 17, 2011 Margaret Maloney LEBANON Margaret Hurd Maloney, 90, of Cornwall Manor and formerly of Wallingford and Glenolden, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Cornwall Manor. She was the wife of the late Howard C. Maloney. Born in Smyrna, Del., on October 16, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary Elizabeth Armstrong Hurd. She graduated from John Bassett Moore High School in 1938 and Beacom College in 1940. Following graduation, she went to work for Hercules in Wilmington, Del., and retired in 1977 as the Executive Secretary. She was a long time member of the Norwood United Methodist Church where she volunteered in many different areas over the years. She is survived by her sister, Jain A. Hurd of Cornwall Manor; a nephew, W. Matthew Whayland, III and his wife, Pamela of Lebanon, and their daughters, Erin and Lindsey. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Louise Whayland. Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Cornwall Manor Chapel with the Rev. Glen Esler officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna, Del.
