Paul Martin, 84, formerly of Palmyra, entered into rest at Countryside Christian Community on late Monday evening, February 28, 2011. He was the husband of Esther Mae (Wise) Martin, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. He was born in East Earl Township, a son of the late David W., Jr. and Anna (Zimmerman) Martin. Rev. J. Paul was a member at Palmyra United Zion Church and served as Minister there for 17 years. Prior to becoming a minister, he was a district manager at Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Co. for 13 years, and was an owner and involved in sales for R-M Kitchens for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his sons, Eugene, husband of Esther (Weaver) Martin of Ephrata, Richard, husband of Marlene (Esch) Martin of Lebanon, and Troy, husband of Tana (Hauer) Martin of Lebanon; daughters, Betty, wife of Clifford Martin of Ephrata, and Wanda, wife of Lee Bachman of Lebanon; brother, J. Ervin, husband of Shirley Martin of Leola; sisters; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Martin; two brothers, Elvin and Jacob Martin; and his three sisters, Anna Martin, Katie Hoover, and Eva Eby. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at Ephrata United Zion Church, 408 E. Fulton St., Ephrata. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jay Showalter officiating. Interment will follow in the Hahnstown United Zion Cemetery. Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Inc., Akron/Ephrata.
