(Artz) Matthews, 63, died Wednesday October 5, 2011, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was the wife of Barry Matthews to whom she was married to for 29 years. Born in Lebanon on March 10, 1948, she was the daughter of Anne Royer Artz of Myerstown and the late Allen M. Artz, Jr. Carol was a 1966 graduate of Lebanon High School and a 2011 graduate from Kaplan University with her AAS degree in health information technology. She was an instructor for York Technical Institute for the past two years and was previously employed by Dr. Bryan Pilkington as a certified professional coder. Carol was the former president of Lebanon Medical Management, practice administrator for Lebanon Cardiology Associates and was formerly employed by Hershey Psychiatric. She was a member of New Beginnings Grace Brethren Church in Myerstown, enjoyed card club, served on the board of Lebanon Camp Meeting, loved to travel and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are two sons, Michael Rohrer and wife, Katoora of Lebanon and Bryan Rohrer and wife, Kelly of East Petersburg; one stepson, Brian Matthews and wife, Karen of Elizabethtown; one stepdaughter, Alexandra wife of Troy Spitler of Palmyra; three brothers, Don Artz and wife, Elizabeth of Cornwall, Joel Artz and wife, Cindy of Manheim and Robert Artz and wife, Barbara of Denver; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Reagan and Abigail Rohrer. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from New Beginnings Grace Brethren Church, 430 E. Lincoln Ave. Myerstown. Interment will be held in Kochenderfer Cemetery, N. Lebanon Twp. There will be no viewing. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Kreamer Funeral Home, Annville is in charge of arrangements.
