McCorkel Sr. CARLISLE Lloyd Glen McCorkel, Sr., 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris (Stopfel) McCorkel. He was the oldest son of Jacob and Mary (Snavely) McCorkel, born Monday, June 25, 1928, at home in Hershey. He graduated from M.S. Hershey High School where he studied mechanical drafting and sheet metal layout. He married the love of his life on November 13, 1948, in Hershey. Lloyd was a farmer, craftsman by trade, and enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors while raising Boston Terriers. Most of all, he was a life-long man of God and raised his family in His light. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mary J. Cohick and husband, James of Newburg, Doris F. Farmer and husband, Jerry of Luray, Va., Ruth A. March and husband, Bill of Carlisle, and Jean K. Sheaffer and husband, Paul of Mechanicsburg; three sons, Lloyd G. McCorkel, Jr. of Carlisle, Joseph B. McCorkel and wife, Susan of Carlisle, and John W. McCorkel and wife, Tracey of Carlisle; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul, Jacob Jr., and Samuel; and three sisters, Charlotte Rissler, Mary Kolenberg, and Shirley Myers. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel L. McCorkel; an infant daughter; a great-grandson, Zachary; a brother, Donald; and two sisters, Mildred and Geraldine. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 2011, at 12 noon at Fishburn United Methodist Church, 1215 Fishburn Road, Hershey, PA 17033 with Rev. John H. Kratz and Pastor Tony DeRosa officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in Fishburn Cemetery, Hershey.
