Miller SAN JOSE, CA Edward George Miller, a 40 year resident of San Jose, Calif., and a native of Lebanon, passed away Monday, July 18 2011, at the age of 78. Edward was a flight engineer in the Navy during the Korean and Vietnam war periods, and he retired as a Chief Petty Officer E-7 in 1973, after serving 23 years. Edward started a second career at Sears as a maintenance and facilities manager where, because of his Navy background, he was often called "The Chief". He retired in 2000 after 27 years. Edward is survived by his children, Valerie Peters (Stewart) of Modesto, Calif., and Kevin Miller (Jaime) of San Jose, Calif.; grandchildren, Chad and Caitlyn Peters of Modesto and AJ and Brody Miller of San Jose; and brothers, George and James Miller of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Marie Umberger Miller; parents, Florence and William Boltz and George Miller; sister, Kitty Horn; and brother, Donald Miller. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Darling & Fischer Campbell Memorial Chapel, 231 E. Campbell Ave. in Campbell. Burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
